Overview
Two of the world’s most demanding mountain hunts on the same trip — Himalayan Tahr and chamois on the Southern Alps of New Zealand’s South Island. James Cagney’s operation uses helicopter access to reach high-country terrain that holds both species, hunting from cabin camps and fly tent setups at elevation. Seven days, one-on-one guide, all meals and accommodation, Christchurch transfers, and trophy skinning and permits included. The combination runs $16,500 at one-on-one; two hunters sharing a guide drops to $13,250 each. Both species are genuine wild population animals — no fenced properties.

THE EXPERIENCE
Itinerary
Arrive Christchurch; transfer to base camp and meet your guide for a terrain briefing and plan for the week.
Helicopter drop-off to high-country tahr terrain; establish camp and begin glassing for bull tahr.
Hunt bull tahr in the high alpine zone, spot-and-stalk at elevation.
Transition to chamois country — glassing cliff faces, scree slopes, and timber edges for representative trophy chamois.
Helicopter extraction and transfer to Christchurch; trophy skinning completed before departure.
